MAC Archie's Girls and Baking Beauties Pearlmatte Face Powder: Swatches & Review

MAC Archie's Girls and Baking Beauties Pearlmatte in Flatter Me, Pink Buttercream, & In for a Treat.
Retails for $30US and $35CAN these are the newest release of the pearlmatte face powder formula this year. The last time I tried a pearlmatte product was the Lillyland Collection eyeshadow.

Ingredients
Product:
The Pearlmatte finish is a soft shimmer glow powder. the shimmer particles are tiny giving it a more pearl finish to the products and on the skin. All three of these work best as a glow powder/highlighter even on my fair skin. the over spray of white on the Baking Beauties Pearlmattes is strongly pigmented but very powdery so most of that product get picked up by the brush first when using these.

Colour:
Flatter Me is a beauty light peach when mixed together the shade variance it subtle between the peach base and coral hearts but the pink give the overall shade a hint of warmth. The over all finish is a subtle glow to the skin.

In for a Treat is a a prominent champagne highlighter shade. The white over spray rim is very pigmented cause the shade to look ashy. But once used up the rest of the shades product a warm glow to the skin. The green leaves and coral flowers are sheer so it does not give any sort of colour correction and typically just canceal each over out.

Pink Buttercream is a pale pink highlighter shade that can be built up to a blush in colour, the finish is not as shimmery compared to In for a Treat. This shade also has the same strong white over spray rim, with lavender leaves and pink flowers are sheer. The lavender in particular look blue against the skin.

Wear: 9 Hour wear before noticeable fading on me.

Packaging: Simple compact with a clear lid and a compact mirror for Archie's Girls

Compare: Milani Illuminating Face Powder in 03 Beauty’s Touch is a great dupe for the pearlmatte finish but that one is a bit dryer in formula. There is also 2 bronzer shades in the Milani Illuminating Face Powder line so if you like to have a hit of more warmth to you face powders you should check those out. Also not that both products are made in Italy.

The shade Flatter Me remind me of MAC Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl in term of colour and finish but Flatter Me is a bit more pigmented.

Verdict:
The Baking Beauties Pearlmatte Face Powders are both what I consider highlight powders, once you get past the overpowering white frost overspray the finish becomes buts more dewy. Flatter Me on the other hand is a much subtler finish, I consider that one a nice pick me up shade.

  1. I got In for a Treat and quite enjoy it. Totally agree with you about the white powdery finish on the outer rim. I have been using it for this week and have gone past the white rim and loving the pearl finish.

    1. The white really does make the finish frosty. Not the In for a Treat isn't frosty compared to the rest of the Pearlmattes but it's more dewy finish I like.
