IMATS TORONTO 2013 Recap and Haul

IMATS TORONTO 2013 Student Competition • Fantasy elements 3pm
I arrive this year at the Toronto Congress Centre at 9:20AM this time after getting up at 5:30AM. ;)  I got off the greyhound near the Royal York this year and walk back to Union then took the skywalk to the MTCC/IMATS. This is probably barest I've ever seen the MTCC floor space as it's usually packed with people come convention time and bridal shows! lol

I stay most of the day until 5pm this year. ;)
50 Year of Doctor Who • Joe Nazzaro and Sheelagh Wells
It really has been 50 years of Doctor of for Sheelagh Wells. She talked about her carrier as the Doctor's companion in the backstage during the 10-11am panel. Including living along a block away from this series icon photoshoots.
Doctor is in your neighbourhood Sheelagh!

Awkward angle photo of me with Lauren (Queen of Blending)
Bumped into Lauren later one in the day. She said she was watch my hair in the crowds up to this point.

Colin Penman • Defiance and Copper
Colin Penman cover him favourite moments and technical nightmares while working on Defiance and Copper from 1-2pm.

IMATS TORONTO 2013 • Main Stage
Jordan Samuel
Jordan Samuel from 2-3pm covered his whole career in basically an hour.

Rae Morris

This was Rae Morris first time in Canada to boot from 4-5pm covered what it means to be a high end fashion makeup artist and the art of covers makeup. The ideal and time it takes for perfection, why she hates red based foundation, and her cover models don't wear a lick of foundation.

The Haul, Hit, and Misses
IMATS Toronto 2013
The first thing you get is the bag/booklet for the show and the wrist strap. The bag the same for the past 3 years though. lol

Lip Tar colour chart
Lip Tars in Annika, Role Play, Black Metal Dahlia, and Anita.
CRÈME COLOUR CONCENTRATE in Vice, and John Doe and Concealer in Y0.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
I picked up Lip Tars in Annika, Role Play, Black Metal Dahlia, and Anita $12.50 each. Along with their Concealer in Y0 $16.50 and the CRÈME COLOUR CONCENTRATE in Vice, and John Doe light and contour the Y0 shade both $16.50.

#05 - Amethyst, #02 - Gold Dust, #06 - Emerald, #04 - Ruby, #03 - Sapphire,
Naked Cosmetic
I picked up the Gem Powders (finally!) in  #06 - Emerald, #05 - Amethyst, #04 - Ruby, #03 - Sapphire, #02 - Gold Dust. The #01-Diamond shade was already sold out after 2 hours at the door opening. :(
I got them for $15 each.

Wolfe FX/Kind of Magic booth
Wolfe FX I actually order over the summer all their shades because I love the formula so much through Kind of Magic so I didn't pick anything up this time. ;) But they didn't have the Neon Blue shade in stock again.

PPI Skin Illustrator On Set Startet Palette & Ben Nye luxury powder in Cameo
Nigel Beauty Emporium
Is a great place to stock on up some staples and Z plattes (tempted to get the hot pink one). The booth this year was only a 1/2 lot but you now was able to browse the booth properly then line up for the check out. This was one of the longest line up at the start of the show because they had $12.50 for 15 lashes at their booth. ;)

I picked up Ben Nye luxury powder in Cameo for $8. But the highlight of the day for me was finding PPI Skin Illustrator On Set Starter Palette. I think this is the first time seeing it anywhere at it looks to be s school set. The one has one shade each of the tones and retails for $45US and $70 CAN for getting it for $40 CAN was a steal to me.

Kryolan was there as part of the Complections College of Makeup Art & Design booth selling products. I was curious to see if they brought the day glow powders but no go this year.

Whispie Sweet Nothings & Strike a Pose
Velour Lashes
I got a third pair of Strike a Pose and a pair of Whispie Sweet Nothings lashes for $20 each. ;)

Minked Lashes
Me wearing random Minked full lashes.
GIA and free pair unlabelled.
Minked Lashes
The show deal was $20 per lash and they apply another set of old stock mink lashes. ;) I got Gia lashes.

Embryolisse & Lit Cometics
Sadly Blur Makeup Room was only selling the lait-crème concentrè at the show but was also carry a number of staple product including a display of Lit cosmetics glitter. ;)

Outerbeauty Cosmetics
Outerbeauty Cosmetics
Has a number of beauty tool to sell from Konjac sponges, facial packs, false and paper lashes to Sigma style brush. The brushes are not as dense as sigmas which might be a good thing depending on your preference but the quality was there.

ClassiQue was there again selling nail polish, eye tints and paper lashes.

Modern Basic Beauty Supply booth
Chroma Color in Black
Modern Basic Beauty Supply
In my option was the best find of the show. It was a private label company seller individual product from $5-$2 and set for around $10. The line up at MAC was constant all day and I just wanted to pick up a Cromaline in Black Black but spotted their take on the Cromaline and got the Chroma Color in Black after testing it out for $5 instead of $21.

Make Up For Ever/BadAss Stencils product model
MAKE UP FOR EVER
I didn't get anything for myself her this year but picked up their HD foundation in 118 for my friend. Next year though as I did manage to colour match myself at their booth for a few products! The also has a few extent deals on a custom 6 well palette of their pressed powder and 5 HD foundations at a great reduced price for makeup artist kits on top of the 40% off.

BC456 Silk Short Flat Syn Liner, BGL-3 Silk Greenline Eye Shadow Brushes, & BX-45 [R]Evolution Sm Foundation
Royal & Langnickel
I picked up a BC456 Silk Short Flat Syn Liner $2, 2 BGL-3 Silk Greenline Eye Shadow Brushes $6 each and a BX-45 [R]Evolution Sm Foundation brush $10.

The show price was 50% off at this booth for kit. The was only a small round discount on individual brushes.

J4006 Duo Fibre Fan Lash Brush

Hakuhodo
The maker of mac brushes where their to sell their line a brushes. And again the MAC line up was long and I wanted to get another mascara fan brush so I though I'd give hakuhodo J4006 Duo Fibre Fan Lash Brush a got for $20.

Studio 760 Liner/Brow • new style brush in Spring

bdellium tools
I picked up 3 of my favourite Studio 760 Liner/Brow brushes this time for $5 each. I also brought along a brush to show the create to see if he maybe interested in make one. This came from a Limited edition set my mom got and she is in love with it for creating the finest eyeliner line on her eye. It turn out the style of brush was created to get under the edge/lip on prosthetic application and they will be making a similar one come spring. *_*

Sephora VIB Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation

SEPHORA VIB
After IMATS I went to meet up a Sephora to share my VIB code with the friend I bought the HD foundation for. I've been wanting to get the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation in the Fair Honey shade but every time I went into store it was sold out. So I used my code to get the 20% off.

Expect to see reviews on all of these in the future. :)

But already I'm making up my wish list for next year. lol

    1. I love Naked! The only reason I haven't reviewed them on her is because I've been waiting to get more of their stacks. lol The Pro price for OCC is great at the show.

  2. Oooh how awesome that you got to go. I have always dreamt of going. London would be closest for me, but it's still damn far...

    1. Yes I'm lucky that I live close enough to Toronto to take a bus there. The creators of IMATS are trying to franchise the show so that over countries can run their own as Makeup Artist Mag is a rather small group to be running the 5 they have so far.

  3. Ingenious tool but not all are make the same. This and the mac one are denser to help separate your lashes and /or apply mascara to the lashes. It really does manage to comb each lash separately compared to spool. Most of the other ones out there a flimsy to do this.
