Kat Von D Spellbinding Eyeshadow Palette: Swatche & Review

PURCHASED / AFFILIATE LINKS

Kat Von D Spellbinding Eyeshadow Palette
The Kat Von D Spellbinding Eyeshadow Palette retails for $55US and $66CAN for 1.2 oz of eyeshadows products (24 pans). It sold out online but there are plenty in store still which is where I picked up mine. I've love the formula but know of the palettes over the past year and a half enticed me like this one.

On a random note in store they had this palette the Naked 3, and the Too Faced Too Faced 'Few Favorite Things' palette i was trying to decide between and a really could not afford to get all three or two right now. So in the end I used my VIB $20 to get this one. ;)

Product:
22 pigmented, non powdery shades (2 need a little work). The matte shade of  Countess is buttery and the same goes for Cry Later which is a matte with goes shimmer in it. The Shimmers still remind me of the reformulated Urban Decay Eyeshadows.

Their are two shades in this palette Oddfellow and Gunner which are matte with reflex glitter in them that's need a little tlc when applying them and are best over a sticky base to keep the glitter one but they are forgiving in that the base shade are richly pigmented.

My swatches are on not base to show what they look like on bare skin.

Colour:
Dark Throne is a rich charcoal gray with cool undertones with a matte but almost satin finish.

Precious is a pale peach beige with a shimmer finish.

Babe is a cool violet purple with bluish iridescent shimmer. This shade is hard to get right because the pigment use is sheer to begin with so I'm pleased with the consistency of this one.

Piaf is a is a smokey silver grey with a metallic finish.

Sunset Blvd. is a saturated yellow gold with a frosted finish.

8 Bit is a grey tone blue with pale gold shimmer and a frosted, metallic finish. It's a lovely wearable duochrome shade.

Geek is a muted peach beige with a satin finish.

Fallen is a caged gold-bronze with a frosted finish.

Holy Bible is a icy muted silver with a metallic sheen.

Oddfellow is a dark matte black with a teal shimmer of reflex glitter. You will need a sticky base to get the Glitter to show.

Birdcage is a bright yellow chartreuse green with a frosted finish.

Gunner is khaki dark green with pale blue and gold of reflex glitter. You will need a sticky base to get the Glitter to show.

Instaglam is a pale pink with a frost finish.

Stupid Autocorrect is a warm russet red with a frosted finish.

Galore is a golden beige with a frosted finish.

Hexagram is an olive brown with a green-ish tint in a frost finish. This shade is a subtle duochrom.

Smile Now is a soft light peach with a pink iridescent sheen. This shade is a subtle duochrom.

Cry Later is a warm-toned brown that lens slightly olive with a pearl finish.   Arcadia is a light lavender purple with a frosted finish.

Wonderland is a deep burgundy wine with warm undertones and a pearl finish.

Queen is a warm brown with a bluish-teal frost. This shade is a subtle duochrom.

Bukowski is a rich blue with a frosted finish.

Countess is a light warm beige with a matte finish. This is the first matte highlighter the brand has put out and I'm impressed. ;)

WTF is a metalized red with and orange base in a satin finish.

Wear: Most I get 4-6 hours of wear without a base.

The eyeshadows are the same size as the regular palettes.
Packaging: Simple cardboard box compact with no mirror of a magnet for closure.

The tray is plastic over a cardboard based and it was easy to depot the pans this with no heat and a metal spatula to slowly pry the shadows out.

Compare: The Urban Decay Naked palettes retail for $60CAN for 0.6 oz of eyeshadow (12 Pans). So in this case you get a tone of product for $66 without the fancy packaging.

Verdict: Love these shades. Although most would see this as bright, I think this is still a wearable palette to work with sans the nudes.
