WARPAINT & Unicorns Favourites of 2015!

Happy New Year!!! Or if your reading this on New Years Eve have a blast tonight!

This is my run down of my favourites that I have posted a review on during the 2015 year. I'm not going to stick to "categories" again as I did not really covered all the areas in beauty and this year I'm also sticking to permanent products or products you can still get a hold of formula wise.

PS: This year is very lip and eye heavy. ;)

Favourite Lip Products of the Year!
These are the lipstick lines I reviewed that where new or new to me this year that stand out. ;)

ColourPop Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencils
ColourPop Lippie Stix in Cake, Tipsy, Brills, Raw, Charm, Bunny, Bull Chic, and Wet & Shadows in Cheeky, and Animal.

NAILED IT! Colourpop launched with just 3 flagship products in 2014. All the shades I've tried in the Lippie Stix and Pencils have been excellent. There was a few exception with the unnatural rainbow colours but those Lippie Stix paired perfectly with the Pencil counterpart made them flawless at $10 price point for the colours.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème
Marc Jacobs Beauty The Sofia - Five Piece Petites Le Marc Lip Crème Collection in Infamous, Dashing, So Sofia, Boy Gorgeous, & Blow. And Mini shades in Je T'Aime, Magenta, & So Rouge.
I'm not a big high end product buyer because most of the time I don't feel the price point justifies the product quality or supposed innovation. Marc Jacobs however not only put out quality products in all his categories but you also get a fair amount of product in full size. But since I could not justify purchasing all these shades this year I was collecting minis of the colour and even the quality is identical in these mini compared to the full size. The formula is perfection as a cream/matte finish. Not completely flat matte and not drying on the lips even after it has dried down within the hour. I see a few Holy Grails shades in this line up too. ;)

Favourite Liquid Lipstick Products of the Year!
This year was over run with Liquid Lipsticks as I finally caved into try the formula. Listing which ones made it to the top of the heap was a bit heart wrenching because I recommend all the formula's but my picks are based one which were the nicest over all on the lip to me. Most of these I have been testing and using starting back in March. ;)

Sephora Cream Lip Stain
Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 02 Peach Tart, 04 Coral Crush, 05 Infinite Rose, 06 Pink Souffle, & 13 Marvelous Mauve
This formula is really got me more interested in other brands as it was the most comfortable to wear out of all the ones I tried in 2015. I does fade faster than the rest of the long wear matte and transfer proof formula, as the trade off. The shade selection could do with an explanation though but when Sephora Brand brings out limited edition sets like the Jem and the Holograms take note as the formulation is almost identically if your looking to try out a few shades.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in I'm Nude, Celebrity Skin, & Posh Spice

This formula is a tad more long wearing than the Sephora brand one. I also found their permanent shades to have a denser pigmentation. That said the 2 limited edition one where a touch sheerer and thing in texture but again the level of comfort is really nice on these as well. I look forward to getting a few more shades in the future.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Melancholia, Beloved, Jeffree, Outlaw, Lolita, Lolita II, and Witches.

This formula is the second one I had tried out in general from any brand and I slow picked up more shades as the new launch became available. The formula feels slightly dryer compared to Sephora and Jeffree's but they wear nicely on the lips and doesn't feel too drying as well.

Wet N Wild Coverall Pressed Powder
Wet N Wild Coverall Pressed Powder in 821B Fair
This foundation is a lighter pressed powder that has light to medium coverage. The powder is very smooth and doesn't look dry on dry parts of my face either.

Wolfe FX Hydrocolor Makeup
Wolfe FX Hydrocolor Makeup in Essential, Metallix, and Blacklight.
The most forgiving water activated paint I've tried, and the shades are buildable. Also because it's wax based it take well to pressed powders over it.

Favourite Blush, Contour, and Highlighters of the Year!

Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow and Androgen
Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow and Androgen
Working with this formula is divine. These cream base pigments are more wax like in texture but smooth enough to blends effortlessly. Plus the pigmentation means a tiny bit goes a long way.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Sculpting Kit in 4 Dark
MAKE UP FOR EVER Sculpting Kit 4 Dark
These powders are buttery and any of the 4 kits I would recommend just based on skin tone. 4 Dark however was made for universal looks although the matte ivory shade is for sure to pale to medium-deep skintones. The contour should work on everyone because of it true neutral tone. ;)

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfectors Pressed
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone and Opal
I've been avoiding the BECCA band waggon for year simple because the price point is so high but this year I took the plunge into their highlighters... No regrets here! These are perfection and that is what the brand is know for, high quality products at the higher price point. I do highly recommend all the shades I've review but in all honestly you only need to the find the one that is for your skin tone and preference. Moonstone and Pearl are the shades I would need and use for my fair skin tone. I just love having the Champagne Glow Palette for mixing though. ;)

Favourite Complete Palettes of the Year!

Coastal Scents (BHcBosmetics) 6 Contour Blush Palette
Coastal Scents 6 Contour Blush Palette
Probably one of the products/brands that doesn't get much limelight in social media these days but I highly recommend it if you looking for a beginners palette as it has enough shades for mixing the right tone for your clients of theatrical creations. And yes day wear too. ;)

Favourite Tools and Skincare of the Year!

Micellar/Micellaire (No Rinse Make-Up Removers):
Embryolisse, Bioderma, L'Oreal, and Nivea
Embryolisse Lotion Micellaire, Bioderma Sensibio H2O micelle solution,
L'Oreal Paris Sublime Soft Micellar Water 3-in-1 Purifying, & NIVEA Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water.
This class of Micellar/Micellaire oil particles really cleans ups the skin without leaving a film of product on your skin. They do not break down long wear product but can clean up their residue.
The formula's do vary and all work! But my pick if you have dry sensitive skin is the Nivea brand version and Embryolisse.

Shiseido eyelash curler
Dare to Compare: Shu Uemura V.S. Shiseido eyelash curler
This is my eyelash curler of choice for years! And it's partly due to the shape of the curler to hug my lash line nice and tightly. You can use any replacement band with it a well so the tool is a nice investment.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

Bite Beauty 5 Night Fix for Lips with Agave Lip Mask and Lip Scrub Stick in Whipped Cherry
This is been a real treat on my lips that I'm only getting to the end of the tube 6 months later it so concentrated as well. So definitely Holy Grail as I wear the mask at night or while working on the computer to keep my lip hydrated. It also nice to say that the product if completely eatable as well. But don't actually eat despite how good it tastes. lol

Favourite Eyeshadow and Liner Brands of the Year!
My picks for consistency of finishes, pigmentation, and wear.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum
Physicians Formula Eye Booster® 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum in Ultra Black.
This has been a Holy Grail product since I pick it up 2+ years ago to create a precise thin line for my liner and when working with false lashes and fill in any gaps. Make sure to get the shade Ultra Black as the shade Black is more of a grey charcoal colour.

NOTE: Please Physicians Formula make your product names shorter in the future though. lol

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners
L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Black, Highlighter, True Teal, and Cobalt Blue.

This is by far the most high end but drugstore waterproof gel liner on the market. I does compete nicely with Urban Decays 24/7 if not surpassing some of their shades and is on par with MAC's Pearlglide formula. It only beat out my MAC Pearlglide Pencils slightly on price point and having more everyday wearable shades that the pure shimmer ones.

Too Faced Chocolate Eyeshadow Palettes
Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar, Chocolate Bar, and Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Palette.

I'll admit I avoided Too Faces eyeshadow palette because most of them where limited edition. This past 2 years they have settled on some core eyeshadows again with these 3 Chocolate palettes. What I'm a loving about them is that they are not all neutral but have a few pops of colour that are wearable.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Shadows
MAKE UP FOR EVER 15 Artist Shadow Palette

Although the formula lunched last year at the $21-$50 for 3 price point I wasn't jumping on trying out more of the shades past the few I picked up until they lunch these smaller pan palettes. They really reformulated their complete shadow range to better technology in their formula's. And the great thing about this brand was that their old formula was very good, they decided they could better. I wish another brand might rethink their shade formula's as well. ;) #MACMatte2FTW

NOTE: The Artist Palette 3 came out but 5 of the shadows are directed repeats of the 3 palettes I reviewed. I also own the pink, I'd be better off buying the new shades as a trio. ;)

Kat Von D Monarch Eyeshadow Palette
Kat Von D Monarch Eyeshadow Palette
Still one of my favourite eyeshadow formulators, Kat Von D's take a warm neutral palette is far from boring. The shades actually house a few cool tones to break up the warmth, but over all THESE are the shades I gravitate towards the most on the daily... with a burnt orange that's hard to dupe.

Favourite New Formula of the Year!

ColourPop Super Shock formula
ColourPop Lippie Stix in Monkey, Pepper, and Feminist. Lippie Pencils in Cake, Pepper, Brills and Charm.
Shadow in Cowboy, Flux, In A Pickle, Chipper, Beauty Call, Hello, Bubbly.
This bounce Cream to Powder formula was base on a gel formula and thus has a built in primer as well. Some shade due to the nature of the pigment comes off slightly sheer but build-able. I've also been applying these throughout the year with out a primer in a pinch and they do last a long time on there own. Application I find your fingers are the best tool but a soft dense paddle shader eyeshadow brush works just as well. But in a pinch the finger works best but make  they're clean before going in. ;)

Most Surprising New Product of the Year!

Bésame Cosmetics Classic Color Lipstick in Cherry Red 1935 (C210)
Bésame Cosmetics Classic Color Lipstick in Cherry Red 1935 (C210)
The Classics are back! This retro formula lipstick is basically what most long wear makeup lovers are looking for. The finish is matte and also budge proof with normal wear (but not transfer proof). The most surprising element is not the finish but how comfortable it is to wear on the lips! Most mattes can feel dry or be drying on the lips. This one seems to lock in what you already got and the ingredient apparently also helps to moisturise as well. But because of the density of the formula I recommend busting out a liner brush to create the perfect red lip shape. ;) I hope Sephora starts to curating the brands non red shades as well.

I hope you found this line up interesting. ;)
