Product: The formula is a finely milled mica aura pigment with a fine white base to make these shade more intense on bare skin and over other products. The texture is buttery smooth and has a nice grip on bare skin. You only need a light hand to apply as these are very pigmented but still easy to buff out.

I found that the shade Pearl is similar to the Opals HI-LITE Palette in Pink, & Peach in term of how fine the texture was.

I found that the shades Seashell and Mermaid is similar to the Opals HI-LITE Palette in Gold in terms of tit sheerness and colour/Aura glow. But Seashell and Mermaid also has larger shimmer particles in the mix as well compared to Opals Gold shade.

The Velvetines in this set is not excellent like their other Metallic shades I've been testing. All of these are watering in texture with Seashell Bra being able to apply evenly on the lips. Siren had a tendency to settle into lips lines in one pass but can become more opaque with a second layer.

Mermaid's Grotto was definitely the weakest formula wise. The base product and blue liquid pigment separated from the silver/blue shimmer so you end up with a wash of sheer blue with shimmer on the lips. It's pretty for a lip topper type look but I want the even metallic look that was promoted in the product info online. I think this shade is hurting because the colourant used is a liquid one instead of a physical one like Seashell Bra and Siren which lends it's self to opacity.

The scent smells faintly of cotton candy with the Velvetine formulas.

Mermaids Hi-Lite palette:

Seashell is a bright lavender with an Aura finish.
Pearl is an ivory with a very subtle peach undertone and with an Aura finish. (Applies much lighter to the skin.) It also as pink micro shimmer in it.
Mermaid is an aqua with an Aura finish. I don't see the blue-green colour shift on my pale skin as described as much.

Velvetines:

Seashell Bra is a grey lavender with pink shimmer.
Siren is a pale peach-orange with yellow gold/green shift shimmer.

Mermaid's Grotto is a pale bright blue with silver shimmer. 

Wear: With the Mermaids Hi-Lite palette I get 6-8 hours per shade on their own. ;)
The Mermaid set of Velvetines I get 6-10 hours, but with Mermaid's Grotto, I get about 4-6 hours.

Packaging: Mermaids Hi-Lite palette is a simple cardboard box compact with a magnetic for closure. The palette is heavy due to the board stock they used and the unnecessary thickness of the palette for the pans inside, but not as heavy as the Make Up For Ever Vol. palettes.

The palette cover is a holographic finish that shifts from green to blue with orange depending on the light but it stays mostly a green colour. The letter is also done with a mauve metallic foil and embossed lettering.

The Velvetines come in a frosted glass tube with a metallic red cap with screened warm pink and white raised roses and lettering that you can feel to the touch. The applicator is a standard felt doe foot one.

KVD {ultra-violet} Amethyst is bluer and lighter compared to Seashell.
KVD {pink} Opal is much pinker and darker compared to Pearl.
KVD {blue} Saphyre is cooler less aqua compared to Mermaid.

Verdict:
I'm not a fan of notable shimmer in my highlighters but the shades of Seashell and Mermaid are bombastic it's not like you would use them for a natural look anyways the shimmer adds to the mermaid/unicorn feel of the makeup while wearing these in the Mermaids Hi-Lite palette. Pearl actually act like a normal highlighter shade for me so I love it as well.

The Velvetines in Seashell Bra, Siren, & Mermaid's Grotto as slightly disappointed in the formula for me as I own a Number of both Matte and Metallic Velvetines I've been testing over this year. These shades are semi-opaque to sheer which are workable but Mermaid's Grotto didn't hold it viscosity for some reason so to get the coverage I had to go in many passes (and tend to look chunky for it). It does look pretty as a sheer wash over other lip colours but I was excited to have this as a full coverage lip product without
