Pat McGrath Labs Mega Mothership: Celestial Divinity Eyeshadow Palette : Swatches & Review

 PURCHASED / AFFILIATE LINKS

Pat McGrath Labs Mega Mothership: Celestial Divinity Eyeshadow Palette
The Pat McGrath Labs Mega Mothership: Celestial Divinity Eyeshadow Palette retails for $80US and $105CAN for 18 x 0.038 oz/ 1.1 g eyeshadow product.

These are going to be on sale again from Oct 30 to Nov. 9th at Sephora with an additional 20% if your Rouge with HOLIDAYFUN code. It steps down from 15% to 10% in the following days based on your spending level. I'm honestly debating on placing an order other than a set of mini lipsticks and clearly have no need to wear a new foundation right now. ;P

I did get this palette for a 20% total discount from Pat McGrath Labs. They dropped my order back in September the first-day order drop and shipped it out last week so it's a late review for this one. ;)

Product:
The Matte shades are on the slight powdery side with excellent pigmentation and blend-ability.

The Metallic/shimmer shades do pack a punch regarding pigmentation, and the texture is buttery which allows you to sheer them out nicely as needed but also intense enough to last on the skin. The 6 Duo-Chrome shades are more on the metallic side of shimmer shades which gives them a lot of punch but still behaves like the rest of the shimmers.

Colours:
Top row:
Saturnalia is a rich Crimson with a pink shimmer finish.
Bronze Nebula is a lighter gold bronze with a shimmer finish.
Major Mahogany is a warm mahogany with a matte finish.
Lunar Champagne is a light champagne with a shimmer finish.
Violet Void is a blues violet with a pink shimmer finish.
Gold Standard is bright yellow gold with a metallic finish.

Middle row:
Venomous Void is a mulberry purple with a matte finish.
Odyssey is a lilac taupe with a pink shimmer finish.
Fuchsia Shock is a fuchsia with a violet shift duochrome shimmer finish.
Megabyte is a khaki green witch a shimmer finish.
Bronze is a bronze with a metallic finish.
Electron is a vibrant deep rose with a violet shift duo-chrome shimmer finish.

Bottom row:
CosmiK is a warm orange bronze with a pink shift duo-chrome shimmer finish.
Smoked Amethyst is a blackened aubergine with a pink shimmer finish.
Dragonfly is a bronze orange base with a gold/green shift duo-chrome finish.
Venusian Orchid is a blush pink with a matte finish.
Galactic Gold is a pale gold base with a gold/chartreuse shift duo-chrome finish.
Corruption is a deep bronze base with a burgundy shift duo-chrome finish.

Wear: I get close to 8-9 hours of wear without a base. With primer all day. ;)

Packaging: The palettes are cardboard with a full mirror in the lid and with magnetic closure.

Interesting to note a design choice they made was to use a sticker on the from the cross design of both the palette and the shipper box. I don't completely understand that design choice as they embossed the PML logo and hot-stamped the gold element on the rest of the palette. As that Cross could have been incorporated into the base palette design. It might have been a last minute design change but it feels odd to me from a product design point.

Flash swatches: Saturnalia, Blitz Bordeaux (II), Bronze Nebula, Blitz Brown (II), Lunar Champagne, Metallurgy (SM), Gold Standard, & Gold Standard (SM).

Saturnalia is way lighter compared to Blitz Bordeaux (II) but both use the same base colour pigment.
Blitz Flame from the Mothership V which I don't own anymore (sold it to pay for this palette) is also similar to Saturnalia. But Saturnalia is lighter and warmer by comparison. ;)

Bronze Nebula is warmer and richer compared to Blitz Brown (II).

Lunar Champagne is lighter and warmer compared to Metallurgy (SM).

Gold Standard and the Gold Standard from the Subversive Metalmorphosis are basically the same shade but the formula in the Celestial Divinity Eyeshadow Palette is more concentrated.

Daylight swatches: Bronze, Bronze (SM), Smoked Amethyst, Smoked Amethyst (SM), Major Mahogany, Xtreme Burgundy (DRII), Odyssey, Eleganza (DRII), Corruption, & Divine Dusk (DRII).
Flash swatches: Bronze, Bronze (SM), Smoked Amethyst, Smoked Amethyst (SM), Major Mahogany, Xtreme Burgundy (DRII), Odyssey, Eleganza (DRII), Corruption, & Divine Dusk (DRII).

Bronze and the Bronze from the Subversive Metalmorphosis are basically the same shade but the formula in the Celestial Divinity Eyeshadow Palette is more concentrated.

Smoked Amethyst and the Smoked Amethyst from the Subversive Metalmorphosis are basically the same shade but the formula in the Celestial Divinity Eyeshadow Palette is more concentrated.

Major Mahogany is way lighter compared to Xtreme Burgundy (DRII).

Odyssey
is cooler, deeper and not duo-chrome compared to Eleganza (DRII).

Corruption is deeper and not duo-chrome compared to Divine Dusk (DRII).

Verdict:
These palettes A+ eyeshadow shades in terms of performance and they make me want to purchase more of their single shadows in the future. I also want to point out that the cheaper style packaging made this a much more affordable eyeshadow palette from the brand. It has a number of colour stories you can use from the 18 shades.

The only drawback to some is the lack of neutral matte shades... I really don't care dor more neutral mattes personally as we got them in SOOO many more palette.

There is also a dupe to this palette with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Jackie Aina Palette that came out last year. It doesn't have all the Mega Mothership: Celestial Divinity Eyeshadow Palette shades but it's a really solid dupes you can see online.
