PURCHASE
Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies
These Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies retail for $14.99CAN for 220 gummies (so 110 dosages)of product at Costco. You can find these in smaller sizes at Zerhs, Walmart, and Shoppers Drugmart in Canada. You can also buy Nature's Bounty Biotin 2500 mcg (100 Quick Dissolve Tablets) for $9.99CAN.

This I will say is an odd one for my blog, but I've wanted to do a post on a supplement B family Vitamin. But the reason I started to take them was to increase my hair length and see that if it could work. I have finished 2 bottles of this product in the past, and this is my third bottle.

A daily adult does is recommend at 2,500 mcg which is what you get with taking 2 of these Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies. My multivitamin has only a dosage of 45 mcg, but most people just need 30 to 100 mcg daily to function normally. Here is a caveat though, you do ingest Biotin through what you eat like nuts grains dairy and meats. So if your taking this supplement doing so will give you more than enough to boost your body need to produce structures in your body.

The taste has changed from the first 2 bottle of eating these in years past, those bottles had more a gummy bear texture and subtle strawberry taste. This new bottle which I purchased id sweet like a candy with a strong strawberry flavour. The gummies this time look a little dry on the outside and not translucent compared to the other gummies but are soft to chew on so I'm wondering if they up the corn syrup and sugar contained with these. I do miss the old formula as I'm not a fan these upped candy taste of these.

Both formulas wear easy to chew and swallow though.

My Results
Now for me, I have a shorter hair growth cycle than most people it seems to the point where my family said they didn't need a pet, they had me to deal with all my sheading... lol

I also have Merida from Brave hair that has a mind of its own regarding what texture it will take due to humidity and styling. My hair texture can range from curly, wavy, and frizzy all at the same time giving a very uniform texture most days. It also more prone to split ends because of the ununiform texture which doesn't help me to grow it out.

So what I was looking for was longer hair growth period. And you know what just taking 2 of these gummies for a month with a generic multivitamin actually worked. My hair on the head grow long, and after 3 months (1 bottle) I saw the over 30% in total length which for me never get that long after 3 months growth. I cut my hair every 6 months so I could see the difference at the end of the 6 month period when taking these. My hair looks like to stop growing after a certain point when I measure to my back because I hit the end of my growth cycle so the fact that my hair was actually longer down my back was a first ever when I was taking the first 2 bottles.

BUT what most people don't talk about is that ALL your body hair grows longer, all of it... I won't go into all the details, but I was having to shave more often, and some hairs on my face needed extra plucking! So you're going to have to do more general maintenance elsewhere on the body if you want to increase your hair growth and it makes sense as your body creates all this hair to protect yourselves and doesn't know you only want to grow more on your head. ;)

Regarding other health benefits, I really didn't see that much improvement in my skin if at all. But my nails were less prone to breaking the laminated layers if I chipped them. When they did break that crack was more uniform through all the nail layer in my fingertips. Which I do have a tendency of happening with working with my hands.

My Usage Timeline and Health Concerns
Some medical things to look into and talk to your doctor about.

Higher than the recommended dosage of Biotin can cause erratic blood sugar levels. Now for me, I've taken biotin supplements on and off for 4 years. The first year I wasn't diabetic type-1 when I started taking these in 2013, the second year I was undiagnosed Type-1, I spent over a full year being type-1 and didn't know it from 2014-2015. My first 8 months after being diagnosed in May 2015, I didn't take Biotin as I was more concerned about my diabetes and learning what dosages I would need. I also had a nice track record for blood sugar level and averages for that time. When I reintroduced Biotin my blood sugar levels did not fluctuate so for me personally, I was fine taking the extra 2,500 mcg daily. But I'm a bigger stalky built woman at 5'8" and at my leanest 170lb (I want to get back there) but I'm hovering in the 190lb zone at the moment.

But just because I'm was perfectly fine doesn't mean this is for everyone, so please talk to a doctor first just so that you can watch any sort of overdosage issue that might crop up when you boost yourself with supplements.

Biotin is actually used in nerve damage therapy. Most people will not need to know this, but if you're diabetic, you might need this at some point in your life as high blood sugar can cause nerve damage as a side effect. Eating too many carbohydrates without burning them can also cause nerve damage as well if it chronic enough in your life that the insulin level that you make normal is not enough to coop with your blood sugar level (referred to by some a faux Type-2 Diabetic as exercise and eating habit changes can clear this issue up for some people.)

Update
Quick Dissolve Biotin 2500 mcg
Quick Dissolve Biotin 2500 mcg
The same dosage of Biotin at 2500 mcg, for the 2 Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies and the1 Nature's Bounty Quick Dissolve Biotin.
I did end up getting the Nature's Bounty Quick Dissolve Biotin 2500 mcg, flavour wise is a light cherry tease and these do dissolve in your mouth while chewing the one table with no need to sallow as they disappear through the cheeks like my dextrose tablets (Dex4).

Verdict
Now I don't intend to take these through the rest of my life as having longer hair is purely a superficial thing. But I can see myself using these periodically to offset my breakage issues with my hair that causes me to trim my hair shorter than I like in the spring after a long dry winter. I'm also thinking of getting the Nature's Bounty Quick Dissolve Biotin 2500 mcg for next time as I'm not a fan of the new strong strawberry flavour... not that it's uneditable but just too much for me.
