Sephora Ariel Storylook Palette Volume 3: Swatches & Review

PURCHASED
Sephora Ariel Storylook Palette Volume 3, cover printed on mirror stock
I was at first disappoint in the colour selection. I mean for The Little Mermaid I think of bright tropical shades when thinking of this movie but the palette shade range has a lot of treasure untold in it.

The Ariel Storylook Palette Volume 3 retails for $55US and $66CAN for 20 x 0.035 oz of eyeshadows. Ariel is the last of the princes line currently with Sephora. But we can hope that Disney will renew its contract for more collections! I snag this last minute on the Sephora site before they realised the lunch the palette to soon. lol The collection will most likely launch in July and is slated for store in August. I'm currently stalking their site for the Mirror.

Product
Matte, satin, and shimmer eyeshadows formals. All blend together well but each as it's hit and misses in texture and pigmentation.

Colour
Blue Lagoon is described as a shimmering blue. The shade is a matte base with silver sparkle. It's a touch sheer.

Scuttle is a warm light champagne with a rose undertone with a shimmer finish.

Flounder is described as a matte nude but the shade is a pale warm tone yellow that leans a bit orange. It rather sheer but buildable matte finish that not patchy at all.

Sebastian is a pale coral peach/pink shade. Like Flounder it's a very sheer matte finish that is buildable.

Flotsam is a deep charcoal blue with a pearly finish. The shade is sheer but buildable.

Sea Shells is shimmering bright beige/ivory.

Les Poissons is light dusty warm brown taupe.

Caspian Sea is a vivid turquoise with a frost finish and pale gold sparkle.

Your Voice is a shimmer light silver pearl. It looks more like glitter in the pan but blends out to a smooth frost finish with large shimmer.

Unfortunate Souls is matte lavender grey. I think smoked periwinkle shade when looking at it. It has a dry texture when applying so it's best to pack it on then blend. It an unusually enough shade that I love it. (Reminds me of Ursula's skin)

Atlantica is a light shimmering sea foam green. The shade is almost duo chrome if it wasn't so pale with a mix of pale gold and light green particles.

Fins is a bright green frost base with white/silver, light turquoise/blue, and gold shimmer. It actually reminds me of the first Ariel doll I owned and possibly the first one in stores. Her mermaid tail was exactly like it in colours with that kind of shimmer scales on it. Talk about nostalgia!!! (Super random note Ariel was the only Disney princess I wanted as a child. lol)

Sick Of Swimmin' is described as a shimmering opalescent. The shade is a translucent turquoise on a sheer off white the leans pink. The product is meant to layer that's for-sure and because of the high shine turquoise it remind me more of Lumi from Sugarpill.

Ursula is a rich wine/plum shade with a frost finish. The shade reads more brown tone with my skin.

Sha La La La is a bright mulberry wine shade with a satin finish. It a bit on the sheer side but it buildable.

Triton is a bright metallic yellow gold.

Wanderin' Free is a high shine light rose gold and champagne mix shade. It's almost metallic but I would call this a shimmer.

Jetsam is a smoked deep teal on a gunmetal base. The shade look more teal if you apply it wet a it looks rather dull when applied dry.

Sea Witch is a classic rich purple with a frost pearl.

Treasure Untold is a opalescent pale peach/pink duo chrome. The shade has a much stronger white base then Sick Of Swimmin' that allows for the colour to stand out more.

Wear:
On average the shade wear 2 to 5 hour without a primer. (The sheerer shades are 2)

Packaging: The box art is gorgeous, with a silver embossed foiled stamp on both the box art. The colour they incorporated is so much like a sunset on the seas using peach, yellow, green, and blue tones.

The Book sleeve is super cool. The front of Ariel's artwork is printed onto a mirror foil layer that creates the look of light shimmer through the water. I don't think I've ever seen this effect before on any sort of packaging as it a really subtle reflection of light instead of a true mirror foil.

Their is also "Ester Eggs" silhouettes of the Flounder and Ursula shell on the box art with Sebastian on the book sleeve.

The book itself feel sturdy and the packaging is rather slim.

Verdict:
Lovely palette but I wish more of the shades where more pigmented! This one however may not be up everyones alley as it a cool tone palette compared to Jasmine and fairly bright compared to the Cinderella one. I still like enough of it to recommend but it's unfortunate that there is a lot of sheer shades in this one from both the matte and satin formulas compared to the other palettes.

NOTE
Cora at Vintage or Tacky did a dupes post for these shades you might want to check out. ;)
