These matte shade are opaque and may have shimmer in the colour due to the nature of the pigment but the overall look of the shade is a true matte or a soft matte finish with the fine shimmer. Mandarin Muse is a soft matte look due to the micro shimmer in that shade.
The formula overall seemed thinner compared to the original full-size ones I reviewed but still very pigmented. The one shade I had trouble with was Whipped Blush due to the nature of the hot pink pigment needing about 1.5 layers to look opaque on my lips.

01 Always Red is a true red with a matte finish.
08 Whipped Blush is a hot pink with a matte finish.
02 Peach Tart is a pale peach nude with a matte finish. I notice this one a tini tiny bit more pink than the original shade but it' practically undetectable in these images.
Wear: For about 6-7 hours before fading starts to occur. They also wear down with dignity so I found no harsh fade edges as the faded from inside the lip outwards.

Verdict:
These are still my favourite long-wear lipstick formula because they are comfortable to wear. I did find it interesting that these shades seem to have a thinner formula compared to the original but were still made in Italy by the same manufacturer/chemist as the originals as well.
This might be a formula update unlike the Jem and the Holograms collection which were made in the USA.
