WARPAINT & Unicorns Favourites of 2013!

This is my run down of favourites that I have posted a review during the 2013 year.

I'm not going to stick to "categories" as I don't really covered all the areas in beauty all the time and this year I'm also sticking to permanent products as they no point in say "this is an awesome product but you can't get it now". There is usually one exception to this with my new formula category and they are sometime re-promoted but not permanent.

Favourite Lip Products of the Year!
The are the lipstick lines i reviewed that where new or know to me this year that stand out. ;)

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick
Vivid, opaque, and creamy; what more can you ask for in a lipstick. This was actually my first time in a LONG time that I tried a Maybelline lipstick and has me feel keen to try the nude line once it comes to Canada.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick
Buttery!!!! Although we are lacking access to this line here in Canada of both products and shades the sampling I got in these shades tells there was a lot of though put into the formula. The also have the added bonus of smelling like Watermelon Jolly Rancher candies.

Rimmel Apocalips
Out of a plethora of liquid lipstick I've tried over the years Rimmel manage to nail the texture and colour richness to make this both wearable and long wearing.

Too Faced La Crème
This is probably one of the few higher end lipsticks formula's worth the price of admission. The packaging in both weight and look remind me of the tubes you use to see in the 50-60's and the formula is divine wile wearing and wears well during the day.

Favourite Face Products of the Year!
Foundation did really make it into my blog to much this years because honestly it's rare to find anything close to my pale olive skin tone and I've still loving the formula's I have (some of which i still need to review on here ;) ). So here my favourite face products of the year.

Emani Flawless Matte Foundation
Everything I love about a face powder without a peck of talc in it and the shortest list of ingredients! The texture of the powder is silky and you can even use this a a matte highlighter for the eyes over a eyeshadow base because the pigmentation is there.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light

This shade in particular is both matte with subtle shimmer in it to add a nice finish to the skin as a setting powder with a glowiness to the skin. It's a little of both worlds to help perfect your foundation/base.

MAC Tropical Taboo Mineralize Skinfinish in Adored
Adored is another limited edition shade in the  MAC Mineralize Skinfinish formula but this once like a lot of the shades the fast two years has the improved fin milling to the Mica they are using. This shade in particular give the right amount of warmth to fair skin without it turning orange!

Annabelle CC Colour Control Instant Perfecting Base in Natural Finish
Another long name product but once deserves a single name like Cheer, Prince, and PINK! An under appreciated rock star in my books as it goes beyond the call of duty as a primer it really dose perfect the skin as well without the high price tag.

Favourite Blush of the Year!
Wet n' Wild COLOR ICON BLUSHER
This one has become a classic formula at a drug store price and it still the one I would recommend over other brand you can find in North America. The formula is consistent and last a long time of the skin without needing to load up a brush with product.

Favourite Complete Palettes of the Year!

Aqualillies for Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eye And Cheek Palette
It's rare to find good quality complete face palettes I the market. Most brands can only get a few of the products right but Tarte nailed this one. This was limited edition but Tart have been putting out more palette in this setup to look forward to in the future.

it Cosmetics Vitality Face Disc
Again another nails product palette for just the face. This one also caters to a number of skin tones as well.

Sleek Face Form Palette
Similar to the it Cosmetics one but one a drugstore budget, sleek manages to make excellent face powders over all categories and the mate contour/bronzer is much more neutral then warm then most brands out out.

Favourite Tools of the Year!
Recollections Desktop Carousel
Not only do i use this but it practically full now and I can imaging what I do without this to both sort and store my brushes only now.

Get Your Brushes Clean! The Masters Artist's Hand Soap & Pet Grooming Mitt
These two together make deep cleaning my makeup brushes a breeze. This hand soap I've been using  for year to clean both my paint brush, hands, and makeup brushes. The Grooming mitt however I spotted first before the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove came out and thought "Why not try it out instead".

Embryolisse Lotion Micellaire
This is still my favourite (after 4 years use) No Rinse makeup remover. I just not sure where I'll be buying it from in the future as the Embryolisse both is not at IMATS Toronto anymore.

Favourite Eyeshadow Brands of the Year!
My
picks for consistency of finishes, pigmentation, and wear.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
Urban Decay makes the most consistently the nicest eyeshadows to work with. This palette out of the 3 Naked ones I've reviewed for one main reason. It compliment any other palette I work with. It also house some wonderfully true neutral brown tones for shading the eyes (or face. ;)

Lorac Pro Palette
This is ones of the few palettes out there that caters to a full spectrum of colour and textures for ever neutral look you can think off. It's my first Lorac product I've tried and i was impressed with both the quality and thought put into this palette.

Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate Palette & Revealed Palette
Coastal Scents has created two very well rounded palettes for their personal eyeshadow line that includes their own formulation of eyeshadows. You also get a ton of product for the price point with excellent to decent eyeshadows in both.

Favourite New Formula of the Year!

Sand textured nail polish
This new sand texture whether it was in  a cream base or loaded with shimmer is probably the most refined new finish the nail varnish industry had to offer this. I personal love the shimmer version as it reminds be of the 3D glitter that came out last year for eyeshadow in the you always see the shimmer at any angle.

MAC Pearlmatte Face Powder
Although this formula was not new to MAC it was improved this year in a sampling of 4 shades. The texture is just a fine milled dew, no glow, no shimmer just a nice light from within dew to the skin as a blush of highlight.

Most Surprising New Products
of the Year!

Essences Highlighters and Face Powders!

These where all limited edition and whether the where shimmer or satin finishes the texture and application where spot on each time. The 4 I got where all made in Poland.

Favourite Packing of the Year!
Sephora & Disney

Although this series of collections start in winter 2012 as a whole it was nice to see lovely yet foundational packing with excellent to good product being married for a limited edition set for once. They really did give use a great and unexpected series this year.

I hope you found this interesting. ;)
