Gelatin "Jello" Blood Tutorial for the Zombie Walk Toronto

Undertaker from Black Butler having bad day
It's edible and removes by just pealing off your skin.

What you will need:

Glycerine (Got from Rexall in 100 ml bottle)
Gelatin unflavored (I got mine from the Bulk Barn in Ontario.)
Water
Something to mesure with (I used a 1/2 tablespoon)
Food colouring. (I got a generic red, blue, green, yellow)
A Microwave (you can do this one a stove top with LOW heat as well)
Microwave safe container for mixing (ceramic cup)
Something to mix with (buttler knife)
and a Microwave safe storage contanier (rummber maid)

The recipe I used is a simple 1 Part Water, 1 Part Glycerine and 1 Part Gelatin

STEP 1 Add Water
I used 3 table spoons worth of water added to to my cup.

STEP 2 Add Glycerine
I used 3 table spoons worth of Glycerine added to to my cup. then mixed

STEP 3 Add Gelatin
I used 3 table spoons worth of Gelatin added to to my cup. then mixed. it will look thick and slightly chunky

STEP 4 Heat your mix
I put my cup of "jello" mix into the microwave and heat in 10 second burst mix then heat again until you reach 30 seconds to allow the gelatine to dissolve with the water and glycerine.

STEP 5 start to add your food colouring
once your Gelatine is ready start to add food colouring slowly to your mixed

A little bit of red it really bright oxygen rich blood.

Add a bit more red and a little bit of blue you get an oxygen deprived blood.

Add a little yellow you get older blood.
Clear blood, oxygen deprived blood , and Old Blood

STEP 6 Test the thickness
Now that you colour is correct tests the base to see if you mixture is too thick when it at it warmest and how it rolls on the skin.

I also made another 9 tablespoon (3:3:3) batch of the cleablood mixture to the colour mixture at this point to help thin out the colour.

I added a 1/2 table spoon of water to my 18 tablespoon batch of blood to make it run more.

The finished batch

STEP 7 Store it!
The 18 table spoons of blood fit nicely into my 3 oz Rubbermaid container.

To use, you can simply reheat the storage container in the microwave again at 10 second intervals until you blood it warm and liquid again to apply with a spatula or a thing brush handle.

What was left over from my mixing.
And your Done.

Here is me and my friend using the same blood batch.
